Bakeries

La Maison De Céline Pâtisserie, croissants first thing in the morning

  • ⭐ 4.5/5

Located on the street perpendicular to ours, this spot is especially convenient: it’s just a 1-2 minute walk from 1 rue Longchamp.

Customers particularly love the delicacy of its artisan pastries, its carefully made cakes, and its welcoming setting to start the day.

Closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Chez Maître Pierre — bread and croissants fresh out of bed

Located a 5-minute walk from our apartments, this historic artisan bakery is highly regarded for the quality of its products and its welcome.

Customer reviews: guests particularly love the crusty daily bread, the generous pastries, and the pleasant terrace for breakfast.

Boulangerie Jeannot (the Vieux-Nice institution)

  • ⭐ 4.9/5

This traditional bakery is well known for its generous pastries, its welcome, and its savoury specialties such as pan bagnat or pissaladière. Very popular for its tea-room space and the friendliness of the staff. I’m a big fan of their various baguettes.

Monoprix

  • Delivery 3.8/5

The blunt verdict: The Monop’ on Jean Med is much more than a supermarket — it’s a social institution spread over several floors. It’s the place where « Parisian chic » tries to survive Riviera fervour. You come for the fashion (because their capsule collections are genuinely nice), you stay for the fine grocery aisle, and you end up losing yourself somewhere between the stationery section and the pharmacy. It’s where all worlds collide, right at the tram stop, where the credit card runs as hot as the asphalt in July.

The house style? It’s « bourgeois-bohemian-bazaar ». The trade press likes to call Monoprix the pioneer of urban « lifestyle ». The atmosphere is a mix of end-of-day frenzy, fashionable browsing, and tactical combat to reach the fresh produce aisles. The welcome? It mirrors the city itself: sometimes sunny, sometimes a bit « rough around the edges », but always with the composure of those who’ve seen the whole Côte d’Azur go by.

A must-visit. Very comprehensive (fashion, home, general groceries, deli). Reviews highlight the quality of the Monoprix own-brand products and the fresh produce section, but point to prices generally higher than average and queues at the tills during peak hours. And I can confirm that.

Intermarché

Very well rated for its location. You’ll appreciate the wide choice of fresh produce and the well-kept aisles despite the « express » format. Prices are fair for the neighbourhood.

Biocoop organic store

Reviews praise the quality and freshness of the fruit and vegetable section, as well as the very wide choice of bulk products that helps reduce packaging. The welcome is described as warm and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Prices remain high, which is linked both to the Biocoop charter and to the prime location within the Carré d’Or.

Closed on Sundays and public holidays — check opening hours before you go.

Bellet Wine
(The Vieux-Nice institution)

In my humble opinion, a tasting is a must. This wine is grown right in Nice, on one of the hills to the west of the city, on a very small area of land. It’s made from highly original grape varieties, typical of the Nice region. You’ll likely find it in a few wine shops:
